Tambra came late to our herd as a result of our
second trip out to California just before Christmas.
We feel very fortunate for the opportunity to purchase
Tambra from Mojave Dunes as she is going to mix very
well into our herd. Because of her late arrival
into our herd she will be freshening later than we would
prefer but we are definitely willing to wait a little
later for those kids. We hope she is bred to Ozzie
but in the event she did not settle to him she will be
carrying Blue Persuasion kids which should result in
some beautiful kids either way. She is a doe we
would like to be able to show but we definitely need to
get some weight knocked off of her. I’m sure when she
starts milking that will help that situation a lot. She
has had a hoof problem in the past which has kept her
out of the show ring and it is something we are
attempting to correct so we can show her. Now that
we have had her home for awhile I realize that her
picture does not do her justice. She is a very
long bodied doe with a wide flat rump. She also has a
beautiful udder. Whether she ends up in the show
ring or not, she will definitely be an asset to our
herd. Of note, Tambra shares the same dam as
Doctor Ozzie.

Salsa's dry yearling photo... |
|
Salsa came from Wanda Jowers of Jowanda Nubians in California
and was bred by Adel Pryor of Stagelight Nubians. When we
arrived at Wanda’s home this past September, as we were wandering
through her barn looking at the different animals I spotted Salsa
and my immediate response when seeing her was wow! At that
point I wasn’t aware that that was one of the does I had agreed to
purchase earlier on. When Wanda told me that it was Salsa I was
elated. Salsa has a very sweet easy going disposition and a
socked on udder – a high and wide rear attachment about an inch
from her vulva and a beautiful long smooth fore udder with nice
teat placement, shape and size – my kind of an udder. This
is a doe that is well deserving of the show ring but since Wanda
has not gotten out to show her does she has not had a chance to be
shown. She will be a 2nd freshening 3-year-old next year and
I promised Wanda that we will be showing her next year. The
picture we have of her on our website was taken a while after we
got home from our trip and after she was pretty well dried up, but
the picture still reveals a beautiful fore udder and promises of
good things to come for this doe. We were fortunate to also
bring her daughter, Jowanda’s Argentine Tango home with us who
will be a yearling milker next spring.

Zeribella is her registered name but we call
her Bella as her previous owner, Vicky Burich of
Mojave Dunes
did. Vicky purchased Bella from Adel Pryor of Stagelight Nubians
as a kid. I feel very fortunate to have been able to bring Bella
home with us as I know there were several other breeders
interested in her. She will be a 2nd freshening 3-year-old next
year and has seen some tough competition in California. Bella has
her dry leg and as a 1st freshening 2-year-old showing against 2nd
freshening 2-year-olds this past year she has stood nearly at the
top of her milking classes. She is a doe that is very correct in
all four categories of the scorecard and even though she was dry
when she became a part of our herd, you can definitely tell she
has that same high rear udder attachment as Salsa does and a
beautifully extended fore udder. We are definitely excited about
freshening her next spring and it’s not going to make any
difference whether she gives us buck kids or doe kids as these
kids should be exceptionally nice with the planned breeding.

She’s Sooo Fine returns to our herd thanks to
Cheryl Johnson of Wisconsin. Both her dam and granddam were permanent
champions but I do not think Sooo Fine will at this point ever quite
achieve that status because of her topline. I’m not quite sure where
that is coming from but as we all know, genetics can do some funny
things. However, her doeling and buckling from this past spring sired
by Remuda RWO Apache Warrior are very very nice. You can view her
buckling on the website of Regehr’s Nubians and her doeling on our
website under the junior does. When Sooo Fine left our herd this past
spring she was two days fresh with a beautiful fore udder extension
and a nice rear udder with good width. Her rear udder could be a
little bit higher but one I am certainly comfortable with.
Unfortunately we do not have any pictures of her ready for show that
are available to us but she did well in the yearling milker classes
usually standing towards the top of her classes and winning a class.
She does however, need some time to mature and fill out. She is a doe
that I was excited to be able to return to our herd because of her
genetics and the planned breeding for her. The picture is of her
nearly dry after she returned to our place in October already growing
a winter coat and looking pretty shabby.
